Paranoid mama?

Brooklyn was coughing all morning. And it didn't sound like the normal, harmless cough she usually has when she coughs. It sounded all rattly, like she's trying to cough up something. And she was doing it a lot. I ctalked to my mom a little while ago and my mom said she is still coughing.

I am freaking out over here. I am so terrified of RSV. Please please please PLEASE don't get RSV, Baby Bear.

So if I call the pediatrician, and tell them that Brooklyn has a bad cough but nothing else seems to be wrong so far, is that stupid? Can they even do anything? Will they see her? Or am I just being the high-strung-always-worried-petrified-of-RSV-paranoid mommy?

When I have called the pediatrician, the nurses talk to me first and advise me on whether I should bring Katrina in or not. Maybe the nurses at Brooklyn's pediatrician can help you out. And yes, you may be just a paranoid mommy, but with Brooklyn's history I think it's always better safe than sorry!

Since she has LM, I'd get her to a doctor. Her doctors should see her, especially with her history. Isn't she on Synagis? I know even on Synagis, she can still get RSV, but it's usually much milder.

Keep us posted!

I just got an e-mail this morning from the director of my beans preschool, saying that there is a whooping cough outbreak at school this week. She called (I can't remember, some government agency thingy) and they told her it was going around in our county. I can't imagine we are the only ones in the US that have a whooping cough epidemic so I would say to watch her pretty closely.

Hope she gets better soon! For what it is worth, given her medical history, I would just make an appointment. What's the worst that can happen? They will tell you it's nothing and send you home. No biggie.

A phone call never hurt anyone. RSV is scary as hell...keep your eye on her and keep us posted!

Any time mommy intuition kicks in call. If you feel there's a reason. There's nothing wrong with it, and if nothing else, you've had your mind put to ease...which is better than anything.

Hope she's feeling better a little better and that all is okay.

I never hesitate to call the Dr... I always explain that I'm a first time mom.... which I'm sure they pick up on pretty quickly!

Thinking of Little Brooklyn... and you!

With all of her other risk factors, I would be the same way....

You know what...paranoid-sounding or not...you are her mommy & it is ALWAYS totally OK to call the doc & ask to be seen. EVEN IF NOTHING IS WRONG. You're paying him, not the other way around. If it turns out that nothing's wrong, you've payed for the peace of mind to know you can relax. And with all the weather changes lately, it's totally feasible that it's gotten her all messed up. I know that over at my house, we're all coughing & dealing with sinus drainage right now!
